Transfer to a new area!

So, I showed up in my new area thinking it would just be like my last. The house is not as nice, but the area is way better and thankfully less of a walk to get places. Our house is actually in the ward area and the ward missionaries actually live in apartment in our branch area. The members here are way nicer then my last area so thats great. I thought my companion was from here and most people think that also cuz he speaks Portuguese, but I guess hes from a island country in Africa called Cabo Verde and he speaks port, french, croil (idk how to spell it), and hes' learning english. His mission is ending in about 8 weeks or so but he does not know for sure cuz of his visa. His name is Elder Delgado.  The area is alot nicer here. I dont think there are favellas here. Mainly just small neigborhoods and giant apartment buildings. This week we got a ton of work in and I think I had more success then any other week. Except yesterday in church none of our new investigators came...

Baptism

On Thursday the travelling assitants came to do splits with us. That day was my first day of complete work in a while. I did splits with a kid from Washington named Rodarte. I don't remember what city he is from. Saturday night we left our mission to talk to a mom of the kid we are teaching, we probably aren't allowed to do that, but either way we did. We needed permission from her to baptized him and she thought it was too early for her son, he is 14, so my companion wanted to talk to her about it in person instead of over the phone. The other mission wassn't too far since we are on the edge. We took a bus there but when we noticed how close it was we just walked back.  I ate Subway also over there. It was R$20 for a meal. It's basically just the samething we have in the US so in the end it was probably a waste of money since I don't really even like subway. There are tons of Subways, McDonalds, and Burger Kings here in Brazil and the brazilians think that's ...

Show original message Today we got up went to the LAN house to find it was still closed. Then we left to the other area to hangout with other missionaries. Went to the bank there because our area does'nt have one to get our money. The other missionaries live in a house at the church. We had bbq there and played soccer. There were 8 Elders there in total. So that was pretty fun. Idk I dont have anything else interesting to talk about. So until next week I guess. See ya January 15, 2018

Chicken Feet

This week was pretty fast and short. On Tuesday my companion had a leader meeting. So I left and did splits in a different area. Those days are usually the easiest because it's not my area so I'm not expected to know everything.  And then basically all the days after that have been a blur of just idk working I guess. I don't feel like I really got much done.  One day I was eating my food that I had just surved myself and looked down at my plate to find a chicken talon just pointing up at me. I tried to eat a part of it out of respect and what not, but it was literally just bone and skin. I don't even know.  I didn't really do much else.  Bye -Avery January 8, 2018

Happy New Year!!

This past week -  Baptism: 0 Lessons Taught: Idk, a ton Drunk people: once again, a ton Fireworks I saw: probably a couple 1000 Dead dogs: 2 Dead humans: 0 for now, but a member said he saw one by our house a few days ago Rice and beans eaten: too much Midnight on new years I sat on the roof and had a view of my city, Sao Paulo, and one other city and watched massive fireworks launching and exploding in all directions. Some kids played with this one firework that was like a magic wand that would shoot out different colors of fire every couple of seconds. Also some kids straight up are playing with fireworks that are bombs that blow up stuff. A little before the new year I was watching a family in the street launching a firework from my window and it just launched straight towards us and shot along the side of our house. Both of my companions were transfered to other areas and I got a new one who is from Peru, Elder Medina.  He has like 3 transfers left. He's the tr...
